Who we are
We’re proud to introduce Birthmoms Empowered — a new nonprofit created by and for birthmoms. Founded by Vicki Twomey, Cher Pollock, and Robyn Whitlock, our hope is to build an authentic, inclusive network of peer support that centers birthmothers’ voices, stories, and healing. After years of leading retreats and community spaces, we chose to form an independent organization that reflects our values and puts birthmoms first. Birthmoms Empowered is our next chapter — a movement rooted in sisterhood, honesty, and empowerment.
Mission Statement
Empowering birthmoms through restorative retreats and authentic connections.
A note on our name…
When we chose the name Birthmoms Empowered, we did it knowing that no single word captures everyone’s story or identity. The word birthmom is familiar to many of us — it’s how we found each other and how people in the adoption community often describe our role.
But we also know it doesn’t fit everyone. Some of us identify as first moms, biological moms, natural parents, or simply moms. Others may identify as male or gender-fluid. Whoever you are and however you describe yourself, you belong here.
Our name reflects our shared purpose, not a label — a community built by and for those who have given birth and placed a child for adoption. Together, we create space for connection, healing, and empowerment — honoring every story, every identity, and every path.
